What is BlackBerry Unlocking?

How does remote unlocking work?
Every GSM cell phone has a unique subsity unlock code. You will provide us with your blackberry IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number which is a 15 digit number that can be found by typing *#06#* from your BlackBerry or by going to Options>Status>IMEI, and we will be able to search for your specific code. Once you have the code you will simply enter the code into your phone and it will now be unlocked.

What is a MEP and how I can obtain it?
MEP is an 8 digit number that identifies the current network provider on your phone (ex: MEP-04104-003). We use this number together with IMEI to calculate an unique unlock code for your BlackBerry. We need this number to guarantee that the code you receive will work 100% of the time.
With some network providers your actual MEP might be different from the number your carrier usually uses. That is why we need to receive MEP number from you. It will also guarantee that the unlock code you receive will work 100%. Please follow the steps in this link to obtain MEP for your blackberry.
What BlackBerry models do you unlock?
We unlock ALL GSM BlackBerry models that have an IMEI number (type *#06# from your BlackBerry to get the IMEI number), or dual GSM/CDMA model like the Storm. We do not unlock CDMA BlackBerrys.
I enter the unlock code and keep getting a CODE ERROR.
There are few possibilities:
It is possible you have provided us with incorrect information on the order page (ex: IMEI number, current network provider that the phone is currently locked to (not the one you are planning to switch to), current country, MEP, etc). If you know that the information you have provided us is correct, please see the next possibility.
You may have entered the unlock code incorrectly.
– You might have 0 tries/attempts to enter unlock code, which means that your Blackberry is hardlocked to original network provider and cannot be unlocked by IMEI.

How can I know my BlackBerry phone is unlocked?
To determine if your BlackBerry is “unlocked” for use on carriers other than for which it is branded:
- On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > Sim Card.
- At that screen type MEPD (see note below) on your keyboard. A new menu will pop up.
If your BlackBerry has a SureType keyboard (71xx and 81xx devices) you will need to double-tap the P, so the actual keys entered become M E P P D.
- Look for Network in the list.
- If your device is “unlocked”, it should say Disabled or Inactive. If it says Active, it’s still locked to that carrier.
